	Strensall Barracks has been established for over 200 years and now provides a training centre for field hospital and medical staff. The firing ranges are used most days by the army as well as other groups by arrangement with the MoD. Red flags or lights are exhibited to warn members of the public not to stray into the danger area when the ranges are in use. The army also provides joint support with Natural England for the management of Strensall Common which is owned by the MoD.
Robert Wilkinson School is a Voluntary Controlled Primary School because of its links with the Robert Wilkinson Trust and the Robert Wilkinson Charity for the School. The school was founded in 1718 by a yeoman farmer from Strensall named Robert Wilkinson. Throughout its long history the school has grown in size and moved to its current site in 1972. 	The Strensall Branch of the City of York Library has a selection of books for all ages as well as a selection of DVD's and videos. There is also internet access for those who wish to surf the net. The busy Post Office provides facilities apart from stamps and other postal services which are of interest to the residents. It is the focal point for the provision of information about activities in the Village. The official notice board for the Parish Council is beside the entrance door.
